SALMON CAKES | makes 4 salmon cakes | 


  • 1/2 kg cooked salmon (poached or even canned salmon works - gasp)
  • 1/3 cup almond meal
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp red chili flakes
  • himalayan salt to taste
  • black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 1/2 tbsp mustard paste
  • 1 tbsp horseradish paste
  • 1 egg


  1. mince your garlic well
  2. toss everything in a mixing bowl - salmon, almond meal, garlic, red chili flakes, salt, pepper, mustard paste, horseradish paste, cumin powder, and enough olive oil to keep everything moist
  3. mix everything with your hands
  4. roll out the mixture into balls and flatten them a little
  5. whisk and egg and brush some onto the surface of each salman cake
  6. cook them in the oven for a few minutes until they brown - remember, your salmon is cooked, so don't overdo this
  7. if you're exciting, you can toss on some cheese (gouda or cheddar goes well with this)
